HMCS Halifax Run for Wishes

Run for Wishes is returning for its 21st year, in partnership with His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) – Halifax and Make-A-Wish® Canada, Nova Scotia. This charitable effort is centered upon a relay style run across the beautiful province of Nova Scotia. Crew members from HMCS Halifax are stepping up to the challenge, from September 19th to September 29th, 2025, to help create life-changing wishes for local children with critical illnesses, and they are looking for your support! Memorial Dedication in Great Village

THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION IN GREAT VILLAGE IS DEDICATING A MEMORIAL IN GREAT VILLAGE TO 4 AIRMEN WHO DIED WHEN THEIR HUDSON BOMBER CRASHED NEAR THE RIVER IN GREAT VILLAGE ON OCT.23 , 1941 . THEY WERE ON THEIR LAST LONG DISTANCE TRAINING FLIGHT FROM DEBERT TO WINDSOR ONT. THE SERVICE IS BEING HELD ON SATURDAY, SEPT .20, 2025 AT 2:00 AT THE CENOTAPH IN GREAT VILLAGE .THERE WILL BE THE FAMILY OF THREE OF THE AIRMEN ATTENDING.

An event every week that begins at 7:30pm on [day], repeating until June 24, 2026

The Goodtime Seniors' Dance Club have a dance every Tuesday evening from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at the Truro Legion on Brunswick Street.  Admission is $10, 50/50 tickets. A 5-piece band playing waltzes, fox trots, polkas, jives, waltz quadrilles and country/modern singing.  No canteen service available but you can bring your own water. Open to all ages!  Come for a good social time.  For more information contact Helen at 902-897-6707.  THEME NIGHT:  Oct. 28 - Halloween.

United Way’s “United By Song”

Debert & Area Community Association Halloween Highland Games

The Debert & Area Community Association is holding its annual Halloween Highland Games on Saturday, October 4th:  Kil-tober at 87 Ventura Drive, Debert, 11-4.  Family fun, piping, dancing, and heavy athletics.  Kids Zone activities are free, donations welcome:  pumpkin bouncy castle, face painting, archery, axe throwing, pumpkin decorating, fishing for apples, kids tug-of-war, and tic tac toe.

Bible Hill Fire & Emergency Annual Fire Prevention Open House

Join Bible Hill Fire & Emergency on Sunday, October 5 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 69 Pictou Road, for their Annual Fire Prevention Open House. There will be opportunities to meet their firefighters, displays and hands on demonstrations, info on how Village residents can obtain $20 civic signs, and a BBQ! There will also be a Firefighter Memorial Service at the Fire Station Monument at 3:15 PM that is open for all to attend.
